Written homework will be minimal and only sent home this year on an as needed basis. Each Monday your child will take home a list of 10 spelling words to practice (found in your child's Take Home folder). Each Friday your child will be tested on those Spelling Words.
Please check your child's folder nightly as a regular habit for important papers and notes. It is important for you to please send back your child's folder to school every day!

NIGHTLY READING:
One nightly expectation from school to home will be for your child to spend at least 10 minutes per night reading. Students soon will be bringing a JUST RIGHT book home to read (Monday through Thursday), that will be found in their Take Home Folder. It will usually be a book they have practiced multiple times at school. I hope that they will practice this book again to a parent or family member to reinforce success in reading! I also encourage you as parents to continue reading treasured picture books from home or library books from school, with your child as well to fulfill the nightly reading time.
My hope is that reading is a positive time for both you and your child that fits into your nightly routines. Find a comfortable spot and show your child that reading is something to cherish!
